Course Description
This three hour ethics course meets the NCBTMB Standard V – Roles and Boundaries requirements and will explore What's MY Business? in a client/therapist relationship including personal boundaries, relationships, power differentials, therapists’ rights, clients’ rights, and how these issues affect a safe, healthy practice for both the therapist and the client. This course will include interactive discussions regarding our belief systems, judgments, life experiences, and perceptions and how they may affect a massage session.
- Recognize Your Personal Limitations and Practice Only Within Those Limitations
- Recognize Your Influential Position with Clients and Not Exploit the Relationship for Personal or Other Gain
- Recognize and Limit the Impact of Transference and Counter-transference between Yourself and the Client
- Avoid Dual or Multidimensional Relationships that Could Impair Professional Judgment or Result in Exploitation of the Client, Employees and/or Co-workers
- Do Not Engage in Any Sexual Activity with Clients
- Acknowledge and Respect the Client's Freedom of Choice in the Therapeutic Session
- Respect the Client’s Right to Refuse the Therapeutic Session or Any Part of the Therapeutic Session
- Refrain from Practicing under the Influence of Alcohol, Drugs, or Any Illegal Substances
- Have the Right to Refuse and/or Terminate Your Service to a Client who is Abusive or Under the Influence of Alcohol, Drugs or Any Illegal Substance

About Your Instructor
Kim Moore, LMBT has been a licensed massage therapist since the inception of NC licensure in 2000, and has continued her education through various workshops. She is a Reiki Master/Teacher, and has held various leadership positions within the North Carolina Chapter of the American Massage Therapy Association. She has been an instructor in therapeutic massage since 1999, and is the Program Coordinator, Therapeutic Massage at Forsyth Technical Community College.

Cancellation Policy
Rising Heart Education reserves the right to cancel class due to inclement weather, inadequate class attendance or emergency. In this case a full refund will be given. Full refund will also be granted if you notify at least a week before class date of your need to cancel (or by our discretion based on emergency needs). Half refund with at least 24 hours notification. No refunds granted within 24 hours before class or for no-shows.
